Crafts from toothpicks: what can you do with your own hands?

Dandelions

You will need:

1. Plastic or foam ball;
2. Toothpicks;
3. Hot glue;
4. Gold or yellow paint from a can;
5. Wooden or iron twig;
6. Decorative pot;
7. Scissors;
8. Green colored paper;
9. Black pen or felt tip pen;
10. Pebbles, moss, earth;
11. Beads.

Instruction:

• Glue toothpicks on a plastic ball, creating a dandelion imitation.
• Cover the spiny ball with paint, trying to apply it evenly.
• Attach a twig to the bottom of the ball - it will be a dandelion trunk.
• Cut the leaves out of green paper, draw black streaks with black pen and glue to the trunk.
• You can build a pot from a plastic can or take an ordinary decorative one. Attach a dandelion to the pot, sketch the earth, pebbles and moss. If you wish, you can decorate each dandelion needle with beads.

Swing

You will need:

1. Toothpicks;
2. Glue gun;
3. Ice cream sticks;
4. Chain or string;
5. Scissors.

Instruction:

• Cut off the rounded sections from 5 sticks so that their length becomes 10 cm. Glue them together so that you get a flat support for a swing.
• Assemble the support from the toothpicks, strengthen the lower parts with the help of toothpicks.
• From 4 sticks of ice cream, cut the pieces, 4-5 cm long. Glue the resulting blanks in the shape of a bench: first in pairs, then 2 parts to the others at a right angle.
• Glue the chain to the swing seat, then attach it to the support.
• Support with the seat glue to the base.

Christmas tree toy

You will need:

1. Toothpicks - 8 pcs.
2. Shiny thick thread;
3. Glue gun;
4. Marker.

Instruction:

• You will need to make 2 squares, each of 4 toothpicks. Fold toothpicks in a square so that its edges extend beyond its borders. Mark with marker for gluing, then disassemble the structure. Apply glue to the marks and glue the square. Make the 2nd one exactly the same.
• Use a shiny thread to wrap each joint of a square of toothpicks to form balls. So that the thread does not fall off, you can grease it with a little glue. When the squares are fully prepared, gently connect them together.
• Place the 1st part in a rhombus, the 2nd in a square. You should have a star.
• Glue the parts together, make a loop for attaching the toy.

Many people will think that it is hardly possible to make something worthy of attention from toothpicks. But this is far from the case! This simple and accessible material opens wide spaces for creativity. Despite the fact that in order to create crafts from toothpicks, patience and perseverance are needed, children can be connected to their production. Such an exercise develops not only fantasy, but also fine motor skills. You can start with simple crafts, each time inventing something new, interesting, complicating the task.
