How to make blinds with your own hands?
There are a lot of materials from which to make blinds: paper is, of course, recognized as the main one. It is not long to work with it, the protection is of good quality, the product is inexpensive, and, moreover, always subject to simple disposal. Especially if the old wallpaper went to the expense, left over from the repair. In addition, paper blinds are the easiest, do not need to be cleaned, are perfect for the kitchen, which is not the case with a fabric product. Moreover, it is a good option to give.
Fabric blinds are called roller blinds, but in their disclosure technology, they are a full-fledged analogue of horizontal folding blinds. This model looks great in the bedroom, study or living room.
The fabric cut on the blinds is equal in size to the parameters of the window opening, but professionals recommend making an increase of 3-4 cm in width. If the material for the product is too thin, it is advisable to make 2 layers, otherwise the sun protection will be insufficient. Thick fabric does not need such a step. The cut is leveled, its edges are processed, for which overlocking or oblique inlay is used, and then hooks or curtain ribbons are stitched to the upper edge in order to be able to put the product on the curtain.
Variants of the mechanism of opening and folding in fabric blinds 2: the most simple is manual. To do this, select 2 wide ribbons, harmonizing in tint with the main material. Their length should be 1.5 more than the height of the window opening. The most simple one suggests using any wallpaper, as well as a thick thread, a weighted large bead with a hole and a few hooks that will hook the product to the hidden curtain. Initially, it was recommended to find out the parameters of your window: the size of the cut paper will be equal to these values with some changes - the width will remain the same, and the length is recommended to take 20-25% more, because the wallpaper will be "harmonica", which will reduce their size. It is up to you to decide how wide the folds are, however, 2.5 cm is considered optimal. At the same time, the end of the bottom should be directed downwards, being a complete “step”, and the top one should look upwards, opening outwards.
At a distance of 10-14 cm from the edge on each side, it is required to make a hole with a needle, hole punch or a thin drill. Through the hole, the threads are passed through, having a loop on top, for which the product will later be attached to the window opening. The threads should hang down so that the material of the blinds can be fully stretched along them, and there is a free edge of 15-20 cm.
In this place they are twisted, after which a large bead is worn on them, smoothly traveling upwards, until the "accordion" is folded. Pick up this element should be so that he did not move back, which means - went a little tight. That bead will keep homemade paper blinds in the closed or open state. At the end of the thread is also recommended to attach it, after which, under it tails to tie into a strong knot. Upon completion of the work will only hang the product in the opening.

Wallpapers can be turned into blinds in another way, more common and with a slightly modified mechanism. The "accordion" is prepared in the same way as it was described earlier, but it will be different upward: for this, a puncture is made through the center of the folded paper, through which a long thread is passed. A bead is put on it below, under which a knot is tied.
The sides of the lower "step" are glued together, with the result that this area of the product forms a semicircle, otherwise referred to as "peacock tail." The thread stretched from above is thrown sideways, remaining loosely hanging. It is required to attach a weighting agent, which can serve as a larger bead. It will be enough to pull the tail so that the "accordion" is folded, and the blinds open the window.

Wooden blinds were popular in the 19th century, when such a variety of this means of protection from the sun's rays did not exist. They looked, of course, differently than they do today: they should probably be called roller blinds, they would be instructed on the window sill and unfolded along the window. Subsequently, fabric blinds with plastic inserts were actively used, and then blinds from wooden plates began to appear again in the assortment of stores. You can make them yourself, but this work will take more time than to create paper blinds.
The linden is considered to be the most successful breed, but bamboo holds the leading position among manufacturers. It is lightweight but dense material, cleanable, durable. The only nuance that should be taken into account is that wooden blinds can not be inscribed in every interior, especially if they are designed by analogy with fabric ones. Independently easier to make horizontal blinds, rising up in an inactive state, so the algorithm below is given for this model.
The starting stage, as for any similar product, is the measurement of the window, after which the number of plates from which the blinds are made up is calculated. The approximate width of each is 12 cm, but manufacturers may offer narrower or wider options. In the opened form, the plates overlap by 1 cm, as a result of which, to calculate the required amount, the window height is divided by the width of the plate, from which 1 cm is subtracted.
The length of the plates should be less than the width of the window by 4 cm: 2 from each edge. If the plates are not ordered at the factory, but are made at home, the wood should be thoroughly oiled and varnished. On its edges are put on a kind of stub, without which you can do, not counting the very top plate. There, these wooden planks will play the role of the zone to which a hook or other means of fixing the blinds will be attached.
Then holes are made in the plates for the threads fastening them, located 12 cm from the edge. It is necessary to use for this purpose a thin (2 mm) drill, placing it exactly in the center relative to the width of the plate. Through the holes obtained are passed thick filaments mounted on glue in places of contact with the tree. The upper end of the thread is thrown through the hook, on which the structure is suspended, and the free part of the thread-adjusters goes down, tied at the end of the loop.
