A disease called diathesis is most often affected by small children. Diathesis is the manifestation of allergic reactions to a particular food or other irritants. At first glance, the diathesis may seem harmless. However, this disease can lead to eczema, seborrheic dermatitis and other undesirable effects for your child. That is why the treatment of the diathesis that appeared in the child must be started immediately.

Signs of diathesis in a child

Most often, children suffer from allergic diathesis. This disease is an external reflection of the improper metabolism of the child. Red spots may appear on the cheeks, which later become covered with a thin crust. The appearance of spots with crusts are accompanied by painful sensations and itching.

Even earlier signs of incipient diathesis can be considered not even diaper rash, with careful care, greasy crusts on the eyebrows and head (on the hairy part of it), as well as copious prickly heat, which appears even with a slight overheating of the child. The appearance of these signs suggests that changes may occur in your child’s body soon.

Signs of diathesis in a child

The beginning of diathesis is marked by the appearance of redness, flaking of the skin and its pronounced roughness. Later on, itching and weeping eczema may appear on the ground of redness. Thus, if you notice itching in your child, red nodules, which usually appear first on the folds of the limbs, and then spread throughout the body and face of your child, a rash on the face, and inflammation on the mucous membranes, most likely you are dealing with allergic diathesis.

Diathesis in newborns

For infants, the occurrence of diathesis leads to a rather dangerous and complex state. In newborns, you may notice the appearance of a diathesis in a child by the redness of his cheeks. The cause of diathesis in an infant can be unhealthy diet. Moreover, even malnutrition in the womb can be the first step to diathesis. That is why expectant mothers should take care that from the first months of pregnancy their diet, and therefore the baby’s diet, consists of the right products. Proper nutrition in the womb will help the child avoid many problems after birth.

The causes of diathesis in an infant (newborn) child can be:

  1. mother’s toxemia that lasts throughout the pregnancy,
  2. lack of vitamins in the mother’s diet during pregnancy and in the first months of life,
  3. eating various allergens (honey, citrus, chocolate, red caviar),
  4. the use of large quantities of drugs by the mother during pregnancy,
  5. the harmful effects of the environment,
  6. heredity.

Very often, diathesis occurs due to improperly chosen baby food. If you feed your child with artificial nutrition, then watch the amount of sugar in the mixture. If the sugar content is too high, the child may experience a fermentation process in the stomach, and therefore diathesis will appear. If you find diathesis in an infant, first of all, try to make the right diet and choose the right foods for your child. Choosing a diet is best done by a pediatrician. The doctor in the selection will take into account the individual characteristics of the child's body.
