Wire Basket Weaving

Wire basket is well suited for use in the country. You can, for example, pick vegetables in it.

DIY wire weaving

To make such a product, you will need: fine-meshed wire mesh, wire cutters, gloves, ruler, thin steel cable, galvanized steel wire (diameter 1, 65 and 0, 65 mm), round pliers, felt-tip pen with indelible ink, thin wire and pen from the mop.

  • Having prepared all the necessary materials, proceed to work. First cut a 28 cm x 88 cm rectangle from a wire mesh. From the resulting piece, form an oval. To do this, connect the short edges of the rectangle. Then you need to cut off 95 cm of thin steel cable. From it also make an oval (it should be easily inserted into the oval from a wire mesh). Using zinc-coated wire (0, 65 mm), tie the ends of the cable.
  • Now make the bottom of the basket. From the bottom, count 10 grid cells. Each of the cells in this area must be shaped into hearts. For the bottom of the basket you need to make a hoop. To do this, cut a piece of thin steel cable with a length of 70 cm. As in the first case, bend the hoop into an oval. Take a wire with a diameter of 1, 65 mm and cut from it two pieces of 18 and 23 cm long. Screw them to the oval designed for the bottom. You should have a grille. Tie the wire at the intersection points. The edges of the future of the bottom must be pulled together and tied to each other using galvanized steel wire (0, 65 mm). Then you need to put the fabricated frame on the bottom and tie it around the perimeter to the wire mesh.
  • Place a large oval from the cable inside the basket 5 cm below the top. Bend the upper edge of the mesh inside. Thus, you can strengthen the upper edge. Further on the cable should be noted segment length of 55 cm. It will become a pen. Attach the end of the piece to one side of the basket. At the marked point, the cable must be attached to the other side of the basket, bending it so that it assumes the shape of a handle. Wrap another piece of cable around the mop handle 10 times. This way you will get 10 loops. Tie the resulting loops to the handle along the edge of the basket. Bend the free end of the cable over the basket so that the handle becomes double. From the same cable, you can bend a decorative element in the form of petals and tie it to the basket, then make another decoration, bending the free end of the cable along the handle. Bend the wire over the basket back in the form of the fourth arc of the handle. Make another 10 loops with a mop knob and tie them along the edge of the basket. Using galvanized steel wire (0, 65 mm) wind all 4 arc handle. The ends of this wire must be removed under the winding. Your basket is ready.

Due to the availability, strength and flexibility of the material, it is easy to make a variety of interesting and useful things out of the wire. These can be original home accessories, fine jewelry, etc.
