In late autumn or early spring, Physalis rhizome can be divided.

Decorative Physalis is rapidly multiplying the growth of new shoots from creeping rhizomes. The roots grow so quickly that sometimes it is necessary to limit their territory in the flower garden by digging plastic or slate barriers into the ground. New shoots are great for breeding Physalis. They are dug out in spring or autumn and planted at a distance of about half a meter from each other. This is the easiest way to grow a plant. Also physalis can be propagated by cuttings.

The cuttings are done in July, when the tops of the stems with 2 developed internodes are cut. Cuttings are planted in loose soil, deepening them in half, watered and kept a little under the film. In sunny weather, they shade and make sure that the soil does not dry out. When the cuttings take root, the film is removed and the plants are tended as usual.

Physalis is a sweet berry, which is used to decorate cocktails and desserts. However, it may be the main ingredient - for example, for making unusually tasty jam.

Composition:

  1. Physalis - 300 g
  2. Lemon juice - 2 tbsp. l
  3. Brown sugar - 400 g
  4. Cinnamon stick - 1 pc.
  5. Water - 150 ml

Cooking:

  • First you need to clean the Physalis from the leaves, wash it well and pierce each berry with a toothpick.
  • Put the berries in the pan, and pour in the sugar.
  • Pour water into a container and put it on medium heat. Do not cover with a lid.
  • When the sugar is well dissolved - increase the heat. Bring to a boil, throw a cinnamon stick and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Then reduce the heat to almost a minimum, add lemon juice and leave to boil for about 2 hours. After 2 hours, remove the cinnamon stick and the jam itself, preventing it from cooling, pour it over the sterilized jars and close the lids.

Physalis has a delicate and original taste, as well as a lot of useful properties. The plant is easy to grow in the garden. Care culture is not difficult. It is enough to weed and fertilize Physalis in time, to maintain moderate soil moisture.
