Honeysuckle - is a perennial shrub, usually thickly growing and reaching a height of four meters. However, the individual characteristic of the plant depends on what kind of honeysuckle we mean.

The berries of this variety are honeysuckle bitter in taste and not eaten. They are distinguished by the bright red color of the peel and the fact that they grow by two, as if growing together by a part of the surface of the fruit.

Honeysuckle Tatar

The second grade of honeysuckle is Tatar honeysuckle. It is presented in the form of a shrub plant, which can reach a height of three meters.

The shoots are distinguished by a yellow tinge of the bark and have very small dark lentils on themselves. In old twigs bark can be gray.

The flowers of this variety of honeysuckle in length are about two centimeters. Color petals white or pink.

The flowering period is in May - June.

Fruits can be observed in July. They are red, spherical.

Tatar honeysuckle is widespread in Russia, most often it can be found in Siberia.


Use of forest honeysuckle and Tatar honeysuckle

Since the berries of these plants are not used for food, the shrubs are planted only for the implementation of decorating ideas. As an element of decor in landscape design, forest honeysuckle and Tatar honeysuckle really do not look bad.

Honeysuckle planting is best carried out around the perimeter of the entire site. You can also plant the plants in small groups. The distance between them should be up to one and a half meters. If you want a dense wall of a bush, then the interval should be reduced to half a meter.

Soil plants fit almost any. The main condition for her is that she must be moisture-consuming. However, stagnation of water is not a good sign and will affect the roots badly. Therefore, the water supply must be carefully monitored.

Plant young shrubs in the fall. If you planted them in the spring, then they will adapt worse.

In order to ensure the process of pollination, should be planted several varietal groups of plants.


Choose the correct planting material. It is better that it consists of two to three summer bushes with a root system that is at least twenty-five centimeters in length and with branches. The latter may be four or five.

Before landing it is worth preparing landing pits. They should go to a depth of up to fifty centimeters, and be at least forty centimeters wide.

After the pit has been dug, fertilizer should be added to it. It is also possible to prepare a mixture of nutrients from organic fertilizers, superphosphate (take it not more than two hundred grams) and potash salt (thirty-five to forty grams will be enough).
