According to feng shui, the art of harmonizing the space around you, in order to be comfortable in the house, should make some changes in the design of the room every six months. But even without adhering to this principle, sometimes you want to refresh the interior. And you can do this with the help of imitation of a brick wall with your own hands.

The use of bricks as not only building, but also finishing material has been practiced by repairmen for a long time. However, laying a wall in this way is often not only inconvenient, but also dangerous: the overlap of such a reinforcement may not withstand. Therefore, designers have come up with a snag - decoration, only depicting a brick. This method has become so popular with consumers that imitation of brickwork has become widely used in the interior using a variety of materials.

There are quite a few ways to create a fake stone wall. They differ in materials, cost, and also convenience of laying and similarity of the result with the original.

Drawing bricks

Drawing bricks

To imitate brickwork, it is enough to draw rectangles arranged in a checkerboard pattern on a plastered painted wall or plain-colored wallpaper. The advantage of this decoration is simplicity, since it only requires to paint the “clutch” in the desired color, leaving the “seams” between the rectangles. But the disadvantage is that only a professional can cope with this task, otherwise the laying looks unnatural and inaccurate.

Imitation of brickwork from plaster

Another option to create a false copy involves the use of plaster and a special stencil. The role of the latter can perform a special frame, and ordinary scotch.

Instruction:

  1. We put seam lines on the wall.
  2. We cover them with paint.
  3. We glue with stencil or scotch (first horizontal lines, then vertical).
  4. Apply a layer of plaster, align.
  5. Without waiting for drying, remove the tape.

The advantages of this type of finish are ease of implementation, low financial costs and thickness of the material, "not eating up" space. There can be only one minus - poor-quality plaster.

Textured wallpaper

Textured wallpaper in the form of bricks

One of the most popular ways to imitate brickwork is considered to be wallpaper of different textures. The advantage of such fake bricks is that dust does not accumulate on them, they are cheap and stick quickly. But there is a significant drawback: the wallpaper will not look natural.

Gypsum stone wall

An inexpensive way to create an imitation of a brick wall in the interior is very naturalistic - to make a laying of plaster.

Gypsum stone wall

Materials:

  • gypsum
  • ruler
  • wide bowl
  • petrolatum or soap solution
  • casting mold with height from 0.5 to 2 cm.

Instruction:

  1. Mold casting grease with petroleum jelly.
  2. In a bowl we make a plaster solution, the consistency of which resembles sour cream.
  3. Pour the plaster into the mold and flatten it with a ruler.
  4. After 20 minutes, the brick is ready.

Such material for masonry can be of various sizes, and for painting using acrylic paint. Moreover, the brick can be decorated with varnish. However, along with the advantages of this finishing technology, there are also disadvantages:

  • labor intensity;
  • material fragility;
  • visual reduction of the room in case of busting with gypsum thickness.

Ceiling tile

Styrofoam, or ceiling tile without a pattern, can also serve as an excellent basis for the manufacture of fake bricks.

Ceiling tile

Materials:

  • ceiling tiles
  • the gel pen
  • ruler
  • toothpick
  • tin "press" (blade made of tin with a tip width of 3 mm).

Instruction:

  1. Mark up the gel blocks gel (most suitable size - 7x15 cm).
  2. Toothpick make notches.
  3. Squeezing bricks with a press.

The advantage of such an imitation is that psevdokirpichiki can be planted on glue for ceramic tiles, and not on plaster. The gaps in the seams may be minimal. However, there is a negative point - fragility. Such tiles quickly lose their shape.

Imitation of wood bricks

The most durable imitation of brickwork is made of wood. The main thing for its manufacture is just to cut the bars of the required size. Over time, the wall can be repainted or varnished. As for the shortcomings, the repair specialists say that the masonry process is laborious: the tiles are first filled with nails, and then reinforced with plaster.

Tile glue masonry

Tile glue masonry

For a quick version of making pseudo-kirpichs, dry white tiled glue is used, which is diluted with water to the consistency of home-made sour cream. Then paint is added to the mass. Among the advantages of such material for interior decoration, we note the ease of installation: you can use the same tile adhesive, only in the liquid state. And the seams are filled with a thick adhesive composition with the addition of dark tint paint. There is only one drawback to the “bricks” made in this way - the experience of sticking the bars is required, otherwise the laying will look inaccurate.

Corrugated wall

The most original way to paint a brickwork is to use corrugated cardboard.

Corrugated wall

Materials:

  • corrugated cardboard
  • quality paper napkins
  • PVA glue
  • hot melt glue
  • office knife
  • ruler and simple pencil
  • varnish

Instruction:

  1. Mark up the rectangles on the cardboard, cut them.
  2. Glue the bricks on the degreased surface. To do this, we coat the inside of the PVA rectangle well, and on the edges of the hot melt glue, two adhesive media will fix the brick instantly.
  3. We coat the finished masonry of PVA and apply napkins, pre-crumpled in the hands, to get the effect of irregularities on the stone.
  4. Apply glue again.
  5. After drying, lacquered our laying.

This is a very inexpensive, though not very durable and reliable way to reproduce a brick surface.

Do-it-yourself brick wall imitation is a creative process that begins with the choice of material for masonry. It depends on the ability to handle a particular finish, as well as the repair budget. But in any case, a neatly made wall of pseudokirpichs will become an ornament, an interesting highlight of the interior.
