During the excavation of flowers should follow a certain tactic. Gladioli gently break in with a shovel (take care not to damage the tubers), and pull the stems by hand. After digging, shake off the ground, cut off large roots and lay the dug flowers on plastic wrap. If the stems and leaves are completely green, it is recommended not to cut them for some time. This will ensure the flow of nutrients to the tubers. If the gladioli of the aerial parts yellowed, it should be immediately cut off, leaving 1 cm above the tuber. During digging you need to pick up the children who fell off the ground - they have the highest vitality.
Dug gladiolus scattered in a dry place and dried during the day. Crumbled kids and corms clean of the ground. It is better to immediately dispose of flowers that have damages or diseases - they will not survive for a long time and infect healthy plants. Children and corms are recommended to dip captan for 12 minutes in a solution of fungicide (12 g of product per 1 l of water).
When you treat the gladioli, put them in the sun until complete evaporation of moisture. Place dried flowers in plastic or wooden boxes with a mesh bottom in 2 layers. Flower boxes are placed in a dry and well ventilated room, the temperature of which should be from 20 to 25 degrees for 15 days. During drying, it is necessary to mix the gladioli so that they can be enriched with oxygen and get rid of moisture. If the moisture does not evaporate, the tubers will start to hurt.
When gladiolus dries well, the tubers are separated from the old bulb, root and stem. Do not let the bulbs dry out, otherwise there is a chance that the plant will die. Fully dried and peeled tubers are additionally dried for a month at a temperature of 22 degrees.
