Sooner or later, any person who learns to draw faces difficulty. Not so easy to portray eyes. The most difficult thing is to give them a realistic look. Also on the rules of drawing eyes and style influences. For example, they are performed in completely different ways when they paint anime, use graphics or watercolor technique. At the same time, there are general rules for drawing eyes.
How to draw eyes?
In art schools, before drawing, students are given basic knowledge of the physiological characteristics of the body. This knowledge helps to depict them as faithfully as possible. So the main thing when drawing eyes - drawing details and creating volume. Without the latter, they will seem flat.
First, decide how you will draw them - in full face, in turn. The eyeball is a ball. It has its own depth of landing for each person. So the eyes may be slightly protruding or deep set. Depending on the angle, they look completely different. If you are just learning to draw, then start by copying nature. Find a photo from which it will be convenient to draw the eyes.
To begin, mark the intended form. There are several ways. The simplest is to draw 3 circles. This method will help maintain the spherical shape of the eye. The diameter of each next lap is greater than the previous one. The central figure is the pupil. Then we outline the line of the century. It will be an arc. Its beginning and end go beyond the larger circle. The right point is above the left, which is located below the middle. The arc intersects the middle circle in the upper part (the segment should be small).
In order for the eye to be voluminous, do not forget about the upper fold of the eyelid. To do this, draw another 1 arc above the 1st. It smoothly passes through the upper part of the 2nd circle. Finish the eye by drawing the lower arc. Special attention should be paid to the line that forms the teardrop. Together with the upper arc, it forms a small elongated "drop" (some compare the shape of a teardrop with the head of a dolphin).
We proceed to the selection of the main parts. Use a softer pencil to highlight the lines of the middle circle. At the same time we try not to encircle them in the region of the century - this part will be hidden under it. Circle the pupil. We erase the unnecessary lines of a large circle. At this stage, the outline of the eye is ready. You can draw eyelashes. Next, you should choose a technique that will help give it a volume. It can be achieved with paints or a simple pencil.
If you need to draw eyes that look to the side, then you should do differently. Draw a straight horizontal line. Then another 1. It should cross the 1st diagonally. The slope is from right to left. Spend 1 more line, but in the other direction. The point of intersection with the previous one sets the angle of the eye. The same lines are drawn from below. As a result, you should have a slightly twisted lozenge.
We spend 2 arcs. Their basis is intersecting lines. Draw a circle, the base of which rests on the lower arc. The top covers it. Thus, we "plant" an eyeball. Draw a pupil inside this circle. It remains to outline the top fold of skin. The eye is ready.
Learning to draw with a pencil
- The main thing you need to know when drawing an eye with a pencil is how to create a volume. Any object can look flat if it does not draw glare, partial shade, shadow. Since the eye has a spherical shape, it will be easy to do. An important feature is hatching. In some places it is worth putting lines in a semicircle.
- To begin, make a sketch of the eye. As mentioned above, the easiest way is to build 3 circles. Then they enter the arc of the upper and lower eyelids. After you have completed the sketch. Go to the hatching. You can start with the darkest places. To do this, take a soft pencil. Start laying the slash strokes from right to left along the line of the upper eyelid. You should get a gradation from dark to light. The most undimmed place will be in the region of the teardrop. The skin of the eyelid itself is performed with a more solid pencil, also with oblique strokes with the same gradation. In order for the eye to form a "landing" we apply dark lines where the eye socket should be located. You can perform them horizontally.
- Squirrel is given a spherical shape, imposing strokes from the edge. To the center they are becoming brighter. The eyeball is convex. The most prominent part will be lighter. Also, it will be located glare. The iris and pupil also brighten towards the center.
- Glare can be located in any part of the eye. It all depends on the lighting. Usually they look like white unpainted areas. Their shape may be different - you should watch the light source. Of great importance is the drawing of details. A tear should not be very dark. The shape depends on the location of the shadows. They are usually painted under the upper and lower eyelids.
Features drawing an eye
On the one hand, anime-style eyes are drawn much easier. They often do not look naturalistic, because they are performed in a completely different way. At the same time novice artists may also face difficulties. In the anime, it is the eyes that express the emotions of the characters.
Before you draw anime eyes, select their shape. Unlike naturalistic, they can be in the form of a trapezoid, an ideal circle, quadrangular, in the form of an inverted rhombus. Also especially popular are cat eyes.
Spend 2 lines. They are located diagonally under the slope and intersect at the bottom. The shape of the eye will fit above this intersection. Draw a small horizontal line. It is located above the intersection point. Above her draw a curved arc. Its beginning and end abut against inclined lines. The result was a figure that will be the eye blank. Erase the extra lines.
Circle the upper arc with a soft black pencil or felt-tip pen. Draw 3 cilia on the left. You should also thicken the lower eyelid. Cilia on it will be smaller. Enter the oval in the resulting figure. Draw a pupil inside. It should also be pulled out. Mark the highlights.
You can also draw anime eyes differently. Schedule a circle. Circle it in a continuous line from left to right. She should go around the circle and go under it. The result was an eye without a pupil. Mark the highlights. In the right place, draw a pupil. Do not forget to paint the cilia.
It is very easy to draw closed eyes in an anime style. They are lines. Draw an arc that bends down. Circle it with a marker and paint the cilia. Above it, draw a small horizontal line and a brow with a steep bend. Also, the eyes can be depicted using schematic "houses" and arcs that are bent upwards. At the same time it is worth tracing and eyebrows. Such eyes express strong emotions. Eyebrows also help to express the character's feelings and mood.
Drawing eyes start with the definition of angle and style. They can be made as naturalistic as possible or stylized as anime characters. In both cases, make a sketch. This can be a circle or any other figure. An eyeball and a pupil are inserted into it. It is important to draw details - shadows, penumbra, glare. This will help give the figure a volume.
