But besides these flowers, there are also, for example, palm trees and dracaena, which do well with dry air and the Roitsissus plant is very popular, in other words birch, or indoor grapes. Birch - so unpretentious houseplant that can easily cope with temperature fluctuations, changing lighting and dry air.

Birch - indoor plant (roitsissus): care and reproduction

There is such a belief about room birch that the one who grows it boosts the body's immune forces and the stability of many organs. Roitsissus belongs to the family of grapes, which has about 350 species. This plant has come to us from wooded areas of the tropics and subtropics and is easily recognizable by its long stems, as well as the curling mind. The plant usually reaches from 60 to 100 cm. Birch is ideal for growing in hanging pots, or it can be grown as a creeping plant, securing it with a special support or arch, for which the birch will hook on the antennae.

Room Birch Care

  • Room birch can exist equally well in bright and dark places, but what this plant does not like is direct sunlight.Due to the long stay in the sun at the birch leaves may turn yellow, fall away and dry up the base of the plant.
  • It is not recommended to grow a birch tree in the open air, and also protect the plant from drafts. If we talk about the love of room birch to the light, then it can be attributed more to shade-tolerant than to light-loving plants.
  • Make sure that the soil in the pot is always hydrated, which is especially important in the summer. In winter, you can reduce the frequency of watering, but at the same time watering should also be regular, so as not to form a dry clod in the ground.
  • For room birch it is important to take care of moderate humidity. Also room birch needs spraying, which is very important in the winter period, as the heating works in winter, there are no rains and there is a low humidity in the air, which can adversely affect the health of the plant.
  • Birch - in every sense of the houseplant and does not like the content outdoors, for example on the balcony. Still room birch has one weakness - it is bathing. A young plant that has not yet strongly wrapped objects in the path of its growth can be easily carried to the bath and, substituting it under a light shower stream, wash the leaves from dirt and dust. If the room birch has grown so much that it is difficult to carry it into the bath, then carefully walk a damp cloth over each piece of paper.

Transplant room birch

In summer, indoor birch grows quite intensively and needs regular loosening - at least 2 times a week. It is also important to feed the birch once in two weeks with complex mineral fertilizer, in which there are macro and microelements. When the birch tree grows for its pot, it can be transplanted, it is best done in the spring. As a soil mixture, take sod land, humus, leaf soil and coarse sand, in proportions 2: 2: 2: 1.

  • When transplanting, pay attention to the choice of a pot, as the quality of some pots may dictate their own rules for caring for the plant. For example, a ceramic pot has good throughput and easily evaporates moisture and air through the pores, so keep in mind that you have to water more often, and if the plant is in a plastic pot, then water will evaporate only from the surface and in this case you need to carefully monitor for the amount of water for irrigation, so as not to overwet the soil.
  • The size of the pot should be selected according to the roots of the plant; the larger the roots, the larger the pot is required.
  • After selecting the pot, you can begin to prepare the soil. At first, fill the drainage with a height of 1-2.5 cm. In order for the soil to be well transplanted from the roots in time, water the room birch in advance. Then lay a newspaper on the table and turn the pot with room birch, gently patting the bottom of the pot, so as not to damage the root system.
  • Place the birch tree in a new pot, trying to place the plant in the center of the pot, and place the upper roots, approaching the edges of the pot by 1-4 cm. Then, holding the plant with your hands, sprinkle its roots with earth.
  • For a more even distribution of the soil, rock the pot a little and tap it from the sides. First, fill the pot into the pot at 1/3, and then add the required amount. Moisten the transplanted room birch and place it in a dark place for a couple of days.
  • Immediately after transplantation, the plant is not required to be fed, as the soil is still rich in nutrients.
