Practically everyone has come across such an unpleasant phenomenon as acne. There are many ways and means of dealing with them. Regular hydrogen peroxide is considered one of the most affordable and cheap. Does hydrogen peroxide really help acne and which recipes using it are most effective?
Probably every child as a child, his mother smeared with a peroxide a broken knee or elbow. So even then we could see how this substance interacts with the skin: on the wound it foams and hisses. This is due to the fact that, in contact with an infected area of the skin, hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria and at the same time decomposes into its constituents (water and oxygen). This produces foam. It is foaming that stimulates the release of dirt from a wound. This property and was the reason that hydrogen peroxide is used as a remedy for acne on the face, because acne is a piece of skin that is inflamed as a result of the reproduction of bacteria in them.
Although there is always an infection in acne, it is often not the main cause of unsightly spots. Their formation is associated with blockage of the sebaceous glands, which, in turn, may be due to such reasons as:
- inadequate skin care;
- unhealthy diet;
- metabolic disorders;
- problems with the digestive tract;
- hormonal changes and disorders.
Using hydrogen peroxide from acne, of course, you will not get rid of their main cause, but prevent the spread of infection on the skin, relieve the inflammatory process, cleanse the skin of impurities. The use of this drug will be effective if the presence of acne is not permanent and is caused by skin contamination, and not by the body’s internal pathologies.
Peroxide is best suited to those who by nature have oily or normal skin, since in people with these types of skin, the appearance of acne is most often associated with the excessive secretion of fat by the sebaceous glands. Peroxide reduces its secretion and, therefore, creates an unfavorable environment for the reproduction of microbes.
How to apply hydrogen peroxide from acne?
Does hydrogen peroxide help acne? Yes, but only with proper use. Since this tool has an oxidizing and drying effect, it should be used very carefully, for a short time and only on infected (acne-affected) areas of the skin. Another option is to use as part of masks, which includes moisturizing and regenerating substances. In order not to harm your skin, pay attention to the following recommendations.
- Due to the chemical reaction with the skin, hydrogen peroxide in its pure form not only kills microbes, but also burns the cells of healthy skin and contributes to their death. Therefore, it should be diluted with water, at the rate of 1 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide per 10 ml of water.
- Before applying the composition on the skin, clean it from cosmetics and excess fat using liquid soap, milk, lotion or gel.
- With the resulting peroxide solution with water, treat only the inflamed areas of the skin to prevent the drying of healthy skin. To do this, it is best to use cotton buds.
- Observe the reaction of the skin to the procedure: if there are redness, itching, any discomfort, then the product should be washed off with water. If this method of treatment does not suit her, it may be worth trying the use of peroxide in the composition of gentle cosmetic masks.
- Even if your skin is well tolerated by such treatment, it should not be carried out more often than 2 times a week.
