Arabis, or rezuha, as it is also called by the people, is a beautiful plant that blooms luxuriantly, it smells fragrant, and also does not require much attention. Gardeners decorate their rock gardens, flower gardens and flower beds with this culture.

Flower growers love Arabis because it is not frightened by bad weather and other harsh conditions, it can grow even on the slopes of the mountains. The color scheme is quite wide, today you can find commercially available specimens with pink, lilac and yellow flowers. It is interesting that in nature there are up to 200 varieties of Arabis, but the most popular are Arabian Caucasian and Alpine Arabis.

Arabis Alpine, whose photo does not leave anyone indifferent, is a white or pink flowers, which are collected in neat and beautiful inflorescences, growing to 25 cm in height.

Arabis Caucasian is different from the Alpine in that it has a stronger root. It penetrates deep into the ground in order to find water and food for growth and development. The flowers of this instance are white or pink. Despite the fact that the plant is short, its branches can reach 40 cm.

Although arabis is grown by cuttings, bushes, and seeds, seed cultivation is the most common process, with many benefits. After all, this way you can display hybrid varieties and plant a large number of flowers.

So, before planting seeds in the ground, the soil must be loosened and sand in it with small stones. In addition, the ground should be evenly heated and fairly moist, so that the first shoots appear faster.

Seed need not too deep. If you want to create a lush carpet of alpine arabis, then you need to plant several seeds in one hole. When you want to get bushes from a plant, the distance between the seeds should be about 40 cm.

In order for the seeds to come up for sure, they need to be covered with non-woven material. If preference is given to agrospan, it will contribute to uniform soil moisture, in addition, the water will not stagnate, and the soil will not be washed away.

Arabis can be planted not only in open ground, but also in seedlings. To do this, put the plant in boxes or peat tablets. With regular watering, the first shoots can be seen after a week. When the first 3 leaves appear, you can plant arabis in the ground in early May.

As mentioned above, arabis is an unpretentious plant. But some points still need to pay attention:

  • It is advisable to plant the plant in places where there is loose soil and good breathability.
  • Regularly you need to free the place where the arabis grows, from weeds, so that the flowers are bright and lush. Do not forget about loosening the soil.
  • Special attention should be paid to watering the plant. Since in nature rezuha grows on the slopes of the mountains, it does not tolerate soil moisture. Frequent watering should be done only when the summer is very dry.
  • If the area is sunny and windless, then the Alpine rezure will bloom profusely and magnificently, and a pleasant aroma will be heard throughout the site. Do not neglect the dressings, mineral fertilizers should be applied regularly.

In case of compliance with the above recommendations, the plant will not be threatened with pests or diseases. It is also worth adding that since it is a perennial plant, before the onset of winter cold weather, it should be cut, sprinkled with sawdust, needles or a small amount of earth.
